Honest peer assessment is an issue for all ages .
2. Modeling the expectations both good and bad may help students better understand how to assess their peers.
3. Possibly assess the student who is doing the assessing as a part of their grade. Include this on the rubaric.
4. Do not let friends assess each other (or enemies).
5. Students may not understand the rubric (or say they don't); you could have them sign a contract which indicates that they understand.
6. A well thought out and prepared rubric make for easy grading. There is no misunderstanding of the expectations by the students or instructor.Pandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14184838500852279570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-687876917820327589.post-66970242793286393662009-10-09T12:55:00.000-07:002009-10-09T13:12:51.154-07:00Comments on Disruptive Innovation:
WOW! I am glad that I have a marketing background. We refer to this as the stages of a product life cycle - introduction, growth, maturity and decline.
I was also reminded of the book Good to Great. In my opinion, in education (especially in SC) we don't seem to have sense of urgency to get the to "great" and we certainly don't know who to kick off the bus.
I think that this has serious ramifications for the parts of our state that are already struggling. If the Corridor of Shame can get this right, it may mean substantial improvement. If not, they will get even farther behind.
I am proud to be in a school district with leadership that understands the nature of change, the need to change and the necessity to be ahead of the curve.
I get it.Pandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14184838500852279570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-687876917820327589.post-23122602201075105572009-09-29T13:24:00.000-07:002009-09-29T13:39:52.629-07:00Event PlanningThe unit teaches students the details of manaaging in order to plan, organize, implement and control a sports event.

Curriculum-Framing Questions

Essential Question
What does it mean “Everybody loves it when a plan comes together?”

Unit Questions
If you were planning a birthday party at a fast food restaurant for a six year boy old, what would you need to do to make sure that he had a great party?

Content Questions
Describe the planning process that management must use to run an organization.Pandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14184838500852279570noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-687876917820327589.post-26013892227519165832009-09-15T16:12:00.000-07:002009-09-15T16:16:23.693-07:00Module 1, My roleThis module has made me think about my role as an instructional designer in the following ways:

Being able to share ideas with others

Becoming a better user of technology in the classroom

Using project ideas more effectively

Pandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14184838500852279570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-687876917820327589.post-28431721567151067222009-09-07T16:23:00.000-07:002009-09-07T16:24:12.633-07:00WelcomeWelcome to my blog.
