This module has helped me think about student-centered assessment in the following ways:
1. Honest peer assessment is an issue for all ages .
2. Modeling the expectations both good and bad may help students better understand how to assess their peers.
3. Possibly assess the student who is doing the assessing as a part of their grade. Include this on the rubaric.
4. Do not let friends assess each other (or enemies).
5. Students may not understand the rubric (or say they don't); you could have them sign a contract which indicates that they understand.
6. A well thought out and prepared rubric make for easy grading. There is no misunderstanding of the expectations by the students or instructor.

Comments on Disruptive Innovation:
WOW! I am glad that I have a marketing background. We refer to this as the stages of a product life cycle - introduction, growth, maturity and decline.
I was also reminded of the book Good to Great. In my opinion, in education (especially in SC) we don't seem to have sense of urgency to get the to "great" and we certainly don't know who to kick off the bus.
I think that this has serious ramifications for the parts of our state that are already struggling. If the Corridor of Shame can get this right, it may mean substantial improvement. If not, they will get even farther behind.
I am proud to be in a school district with leadership that understands the nature of change, the need to change and the necessity to be ahead of the curve.
I get it.
